U.S. Business Platinum coverage. Terms checked October 27, 2026. Benefits, eligible merchants and offers can change.
American Express has added new ways to use the Business Platinum Card for lodging and workspaces, alongside restrictions that will matter in 2027. The October 22 Airbnb partnership expands booking options, while the new ZO membership adds places to work. The tradeoff: shorter luxury-hotel stays will become harder to offset, and two business benefits will narrow to select merchants.
For a card carrying an $895 annual fee, the useful question is how these changes fit trips and expenses you already have. A larger list of benefits does not automatically produce more savings.
What changes, and when?
- Available now: 5X Membership Rewards points on eligible prepaid Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel, Airbnb Luxe eligibility for the renamed lodging credit, a conditional Airbnb Experiences credit and ZO membership.
- January 1, 2027: Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings will need at least two nights to qualify for the lodging credit.
- February 17, 2027: the wireless credit and the shipping category for 2X points become limited to select merchants.
Airbnb joins Amex Travel, with an important Luxe distinction
Under the partnership announced October 22, U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum members can earn 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar on prepaid Airbnb bookings made through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App. This earning opportunity is broader than Airbnb Luxe.
The lodging credit is more restrictive. The former $600 Hotel Credit is now the $600 Lodging Credit, adding eligible prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays of at least two nights. Its existing structure remains up to $300 in January–June and up to $300 in July–December. It is not a new $600 credit on top of the hotel benefit, and ordinary Airbnb listings do not qualify just because they appear through Amex Travel.
For a family or a small team that already needs a larger home, the expanded choice may help. Compare the complete price, cancellation policy and location before choosing a Luxe property solely to use a credit.
A $250 Experiences credit must first be unlocked
A prepaid Airbnb Luxe booking made with the eligible card through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App can unlock up to $250 in statement credits for eligible Airbnb Experiences. Once that booking is confirmed, qualifying Experiences purchases must be made directly with Airbnb using the eligible card within the applicable calendar-year window.
This is not an automatic $250 benefit for every cardholder. Confirm that Amex shows the credit as unlocked before buying an Experience. Purchases routed to a third-party partner platform, such as some event-ticket purchases, are excluded. Read the current terms for booking timing, cancellations and eligibility.
One-night Fine Hotels + Resorts stays lose credit eligibility in 2027
Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings require a minimum two-night stay to qualify for the lodging credit. The Hotel Collection and Airbnb Luxe already require two nights. This change concerns statement-credit eligibility; it should not be confused with a blanket statement that one-night FHR reservations cannot be booked.
Travelers who have used a one-night luxury stopover to absorb a semiannual credit should revisit that strategy. Adding an unwanted second night can cost more than the credit saves. Before paying for a late-2026 booking involving 2027 travel, check the live terms and ask Amex how the effective-date rule applies to that reservation.
ZO adds workspace access and a targeted credit
Basic Business Platinum members can activate a complimentary American Express ZO Membership from Tishman Speyer. It includes access to participating U.S. ZO locations, up to four guests per week at ZO Lounges and Clubhouses, and four complimentary day passes per month for advance bookings at U.S. Studio workspaces.
The benefit also provides up to $500 in statement credits per calendar year for eligible event-space bookings and/or a Dining Club membership. This is a shared annual account limit, not a general dining or coworking reimbursement. Registration, participating locations, booking rules and availability apply; international locations are excluded.
The practical value depends heavily on geography. Check the location map and reservation availability before replacing an existing workspace arrangement.
Wireless credits and shipping rewards narrow in February
Starting February 17, 2027, Amex limits the up-to-$10 monthly wireless statement credit to select merchants. Enrollment remains required. The card’s 2X U.S. shipping category will also become limited to select merchants on that date.
Amex continues to describe 2X earning on eligible key business purchases or individual eligible purchases of $5,000 or more, with a combined $2 million annual cap. The merchant restriction is a change to shipping-category eligibility; review the separate large-purchase rules before assuming how a particular charge will earn.
Check your carrier and shipping providers against the card’s current benefit terms before the effective date. Do not assume every company in those industries will continue to qualify.
Our take: more options, with more conditions to track
The Airbnb addition can help travelers who already book premium homes. ZO can be useful for members with convenient participating locations. But the FHR minimum makes the credit less flexible for short stays, and the merchant restrictions may reduce value for some businesses.
Build your renewal calculation around benefits you would use without changing your spending. For illustration only, if an extra hotel night costs $400 solely to obtain a $300 credit, that choice adds $100 to your costs before taxes and other differences. A credit should reduce an existing expense.
The $300 ChatGPT Business credit is an earlier 2026 addition, not part of the new October Airbnb announcement. Amex described it in June; enrollment and eligible U.S. subscription purchases are required. Keep older benefits separate when measuring what this latest update adds.
Before applying or renewing, review the current fee, benefit terms and actual offer available to you. Welcome offers can vary. This article covers the U.S. business card; personal Platinum benefits and eligibility differ.
